How to Train Your Dragon

Yes, it's animated. Yes, it's primarily for kids. That being said, I really enjoyed this movie. It's funny, clever, and even manages to pull at your heart strings from time to time. Few movies are bot enjoyable for kids and adults alike. This is definitely one of them.

The Ghost Writer

I always like a suspense movie that keeps your interest and throws in a plot twist at the end just to see if you were paying attention. This movie fits that bill. Good story, well acted, and definitely worth checking out.

Shutter Island

I love it when a movie keeps you thinking and wondering how it will turn out. A movie that not only keeps your interest, but also leaves you wanting more. This is one of those movies. A great cast, fantastic story, and overall, very well done. If you like suspense/thrillers, then you'll love this one.

Repo Men

Yet another example of a movie that should have been great, but came up short. Great story, great actors, but lacking in punch. As I was watching this, I kept on hoping and cheering that it would kick into gear and get better, but it didn't. Except for a twist at the end, the movie just seemed to be average. A good option for your Netflix cue, but I wouldn't waste $10 at the theater.

The Bounty Hunter

Let me start out by saying that I'm a fan of Gerard Butler and I love Jennifer Aniston, that being said, I was disappointed by this movie. It wasn't overly funny, romantic, or exciting. There just didn't seem to be any chemistry between Gerard and Jennifer (unlike the great chemistry in The Ugly Truth between Butler and Katherine Heigl). One left the theater thinking "I guess it was OK".

Alice in Wonderland

I really expected this to be a great movie. Effects looked good, great cast, classic story. Boy was I disappointed. The 3-D effects were average at best. The story seemed to remind me of something else, oh yeah, the Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe (which was a much better movie). While Johnny Depp was great, the rest of the movie was just kinda blah. Might be worth checking out on Netflix, but not in the theater.

Why I'm here

It occurred to me one day that there are hundreds of movie reviewers that seem to think that if a movie isn't "Oscar Quality", then it's somehow not worthy. I'm simply here to review movies for average people. I'm not so much worried about the lighting, design, or costumes, rather did the movie do a good job at ENTERTAINING! Afterall, that's what really counts. My criteria is simple, if a comedy makes me laugh, it's done it's job. Things like that. So if you want reviews based on what regular people base their decisions on, then this is the place.
